Chapter 23: The Final Strike

Melania stood at the edge of the world, where once there was a line between the past and the future, but now there was only emptiness. The landscape was devastated. Everything that remained from the battle was dust and ash scattered across the ground, like echoes of past events. The Eternity was like a wounded creature, breathing but still unable to find its form.

Beneath her feet, she could feel a faint pulse as she walked with Endar towards the heart of Eternity. This place could not be called home, but it was its core, its essence, which now needed urgent healing. And as she walked forward, she felt the dark forces slowly closing in on them, like invisible shadows ready to consume this new order.

— Is this the end, or just the beginning? — Endar asked, walking beside her, watching how the air around them crackled with unseen threats.

Melania didn’t answer immediately. Her mind was filled with questions that had no clear answers. She saw the world changing under their hands, but was it for the better, or was it just another form of chaos? Could they stop the new darkness that seemed to grow from the very heart of Eternity?

— We can’t stop this process, — she finally said. — We can only guide it. Now we decide whether this Eternity becomes light or shadow.

Beneath their feet, the ground began to crack, and the sky opened up in dark waves, like a storm crashing from unknown realms. It was Astran’s Shadow — his last attempt to rise from the dead, and its power spread across every corner of this world.

Melania stopped, and her hands began to glow with a new energy. Her choice was now final. She would become the magnet that held all the destruction at bay, and her very power had to become the weapon.

— The power of this Eternity is me, — she said. — I will be its heart. And if necessary, I will be its executioner.

There was so much hatred and determination in her words that even the ground itself seemed to tremble. Endar clenched his fists, his eyes shining with fury.

— You want this to be your responsibility? Are you ready to become the one who brings this peace… or will it just be your death?

The answer came without words. Melania knew her choice would be final. She was ready to give herself, even if it meant losing her very essence. Eternity needed a new path, and she was prepared to be the one to show it.

At that moment, the enemy appeared. Astran, though slain, had left behind a rich legacy. Resurrected by shadows, he was now not only a symbol of destruction but chaos itself. His figure tore through the darkness, and with every step, pain and agony surged through him. In his eyes, the thirst for power returned.

— You think you can stop me? — Astran asked, his voice tearing through the air. — You are nothing but a shadow trying to become light.

Melania gathered all her strength, and in her gaze was the same determination that had made her the creator of this new world. She did not respond because her actions had already become her answer. She summoned a powerful energy that swirled around her body, taking the shape of a lethal stream.

— I will not become your shadow, — she said. — You’ve forgotten that creation and destruction always go hand in hand. And if it is your fate to be shattered, that will be your choice.

The strike that followed was deadly. It tore through the very fabric of space and shattered Eternity itself. Astran’s shadow retreated, but his laughter still echoed, like the last reverberation of great darkness.

Melania felt the light in her hands begin to fade. She was giving everything she had to prevent this from being the final blow to everything. But her strength was not infinite. Whether this was a victory or defeat now depended only on whether she could gather the remnants of this new world.

The darkness slowly retreated, but in the distance, dark clouds still loomed. This battle was not over. But Melania now knew: the choice was hers, and she would not back down.

Now only one thing remained: to stop the darkness that was about to fall upon this world once more.
