Chapter 18: The Awakening of Ancient Evil

Melania stood before the open sky, her heart still echoing from what had just transpired at the obelisk. It seemed as though reality itself had shifted when the dark forces began to retreat, revealing new horizons. But what she felt within herself—the depth of the changes in her soul—was only the beginning. With each step she took, an invisible shadow seemed to follow, as if something old and powerful was waiting for her resolve.

The winds swept away the last remnants of the night, and before her stretched a green field, beyond which the mountains loomed. But there was no certainty that this place was safe. On the contrary, with each breath she took, she felt herself drawing closer to something terrifying.

Melania hadn’t noticed how far she had come, yet she moved forward. However, her thoughts were consumed by the words she had just heard: “You have passed the final trial, but now you must face your fears, face-to-face.” These words haunted her. She knew that from the moment she set foot on this path, her life had become part of something far greater.

Suddenly, a dark cloud appeared before her, filling the horizon. It seemed as though the entire world held its breath as the cloud began to twist and gather momentum. The sound of the wind faded, and for a moment, everything seemed to freeze, as if the world was holding its breath.

Melania raised her sword, and its light cut through the darkness, but it was not enough to ward off what was emerging before her. The cloud began to coalesce, turning into a massive figure that spiraled around itself like a mass of living fire.

“You have come to destroy us, or to become part of us?” came a voice from within the cloud, deep and merciless. It was the voice of something ancient, something that had long been waiting for its moment.

“I’ve come to stop your dark plans!” Melania replied, though her voice trembled. It was hard to gather herself, but her heart burned with the fire of resolve.

“You do not know what you are dealing with, girl,” the voice mocked. “We are the shadows that once ruled these lands. We are the essence of this world. And you, who seeks to kill us, have already woven yourself into our threads.”

Suddenly, from the cloud emerged a dark figure, tall and unfathomably powerful. It had eyes that burned red, and its body was covered with intertwined dark lines that glowed as if fire burned within stone. It was not just a creature, but the very symbol of a power that existed beyond the laws of time.

“If you wish to destroy me, you will have to become one of us,” the being said, spreading its arms as if twisting the space itself into a black abyss.

Melania raised her sword, feeling its blade pulse with magical energy. She knew this was not just a battle for power. This was a battle for her soul, for her very essence. Every move she made now had meaning; every decision would shape the future.

“I will not be your servant!” she cried, striving to restore her resolve.

The creature’s body began to fragment into dark crystals, which, like stars, scattered across the sky, causing storms and magical explosions all around. It seemed as though the world around Melania began to compress, as if it were a beam of light.

But she did not retreat. A new fire ignited in her heart—one stronger than any darkness. From this fire came her true strength, the strength of will and determination.

“I choose the light!” she shouted, and her sword, infused with magic, burst into light, filling every corner of the darkness.

The creature howled in pain as its shadows began to disintegrate. It tried to cloak Melania in a black rain, but the light from her sword tore through it, refusing to let her drown in the abyss.

Melania stepped forward, ready to end this battle. The time had come.
