Chapter 23: Between the World and the Abyss

The space they found themselves in was unpredictable, much like the very essence of time. Emiren stood at the edge of reality and nothingness. Every movement echoed, rolling into infinity. The space had no boundaries, and everything that existed seemed stretched between two forces—creation and destruction.

“Have we already made the decision, haven’t we?” whispered Ardalys, his voice trembling as if his words were landing in a foreign world. He stood beside him, still uncertain about what was happening.

“Yes, we’ve created a new path,” Emiren replied, though he wasn’t entirely confident in his words. He clenched his hands, feeling the cold of this abyss seeping into every cell of his body. “But that doesn’t mean we’re safe.”

The shadow that enveloped everything around them suddenly moved. It swirled, turning the space into chaos. Lightning cut through the darkness, and light scattered as if it were a thin liquid, with no beginning or end. Every gaze was pierced by the sensation that they were standing on the edge, where there was nothing but emptiness.

Emiren and Ardalys looked around, their eyes meeting the face of someone who had emerged from the shadow. His silhouette was familiar, though not entirely human. He was part of this chaos, part of what should not exist but was.

“You’ve come,” Emiren said. His voice was firm, but inside him was the question: what was this creature, and what did it want from them?

“I am that which did not exist,” the stranger said, his voice cold as ice. “But that no longer matters. I am the result of your mistake, your desire for change. I am a lonely fugitive who finds no place in time.”

Ardalys took a step back, feeling the ground beneath his feet begin to crack. He wanted to ask what this being wanted from them, but his voice got stuck in his throat.

“Who are you?” Emiren asked, though he already suspected the answer. It was inevitable. This was a creator-destroyer, born from their actions, and now he stood before them.

The being took a step forward, its appearance becoming clearer, yet at the same time, still hazy, as though it had no shape.

“I am everything and nothing, and at the same time, nothing,” it said. “I am a black shadow created by your hands. I am the offspring of your power, your need to create, who forgot about the consequences. You have not only broken the boundary between reality and nonexistence, you have created a void into which we fell.”

Emiren felt his heart beat faster. He didn’t know if he could stop this process. Was there still time? Had their decisions already irreversibly changed the world?

“What do you want from us?” he asked, maintaining composure. Inside, he knew: only in listening could they find a way to resolve this.

“We want to return,” the being replied. “We want to find our place. But for that to happen, you must help us. You must accept us. Your power is our only chance at existence.”

Ardalys stood without speaking, but his eyes burned with doubt. At that moment, Emiren realized they would have to do the impossible. He couldn’t reject this chaos because it was his creation, and he was responsible for everything that was happening.

“If we accept you,” Emiren said finally, “what will happen to reality? What will we leave behind?”

The being stepped even closer, its shadow enveloping everything around them, creating the feeling that the world was about to collapse into a million pieces.

“You will leave what should remain,” it said. “And you will get what belongs to you. All your creations, all your worlds—they will become part of a new cycle. We will teach you how to live with us. How to create in harmony with what we have created. Together, we will build a new time. And that time will be ours.”

Emiren and Ardalys exchanged a look. There was no longer room for doubt between them. They understood that the choice had been made. They would have to accept this being and whatever it brought. The world was no longer what it had been before. Their role in this world had changed forever.

“I accept it,” Emiren said, trying not to think about the consequences. “Together, we will create a new time.”

And in that moment, all the shadows around them began to tighten, forming a new reality, a new era. This was their last attempt to create a world where everything that did not exist could find its place. But this new world was no longer simple; it was dark, rich in possibilities that could heal or destroy.

Now, when everything had changed, all they had left was one thing—to decide what their new world would be.
