Chapter 8: The Price of Balance

The fabric of the world cracks

Emiren stood at the threshold between two worlds, feeling the very fabric of reality crack under their pressure. Everything around them spun, dividing time into countless possibilities, each demanding sacrifice. The Time Island, once thought to be stable, now felt like a living organism fighting for its existence.

— This is not just a choice, — said Watery, looking at the circle that marked the boundary of the two realities. — It’s a fracture, or a union. The broken harmony. We must find the balance.

Shadows from the past and future

With each step, they drew closer to the center of the circle. Echoes of those who had already made their choice and those who would still dare to made themselves felt in their souls. Fragments of all possible worlds existed in their hearts — blurred, undefined, yet profoundly important.

— What do you see? — asked Flamen, stepping forward and staring at the dark flashes hanging in the air.

— A possibility, — answered Emiren.

But that possibility was fragile. Two worlds could either merge or destroy each other if they didn’t find balance.

The Boundary of Entwinement

— There is a place where the two streams connect most tightly, — said Watery, his voice muffled as though coming from under water. — We must find it.

The Essence extended its hand, and from the darkness emerged a bridge with no beginning or end. It was made of both light and shadow, fluidity and stillness.

— You will cross it if you’re ready to become part of something greater, — it said.

Emiren stepped forward, feeling reality shift beneath his feet.

Every step carried them closer to the knot where the two Eternities intertwined. The space around them fractured, turning into a mosaic of times that hadn’t yet become reality.

A Sacrifice for Creation

Suddenly, the bridge trembled. The echo of the Old Time flared in a flash of red light. The Silver Tree in the Eternal Garden shook, its branches beginning to fall.

— Our world resists, — whispered Empty.

— It fears becoming something else, — Emiren replied.

The Essence sighed.

— Every creation is a loss. For something to be born, something else must depart.

— We can find balance! — protested Emiren.

— Then prove it.

Before them, two paths appeared: one — the path of preservation, where the Eternal Garden would remain unchanged, but the Other Eternity would vanish. The other — the path of change, where a new Eternity would be born, but the old one would never be the same again.

Emiren knew that his choice would determine everything.

— We will find a third path, — he said.

— We will prove that two Eternities can coexist.

Darkness and light converged in a single impulse. The moment of change had arrived.
